Thurs., August 6 (19 Weeks Even)

Brady tried BANANAS for the first time this week! Mom didn't do a very good job getting them into his mouth (seriously, I think most of the stuff on his bib was my doing). He just loves bananas. He's been eating once in the morning around 9am and once at night during our family dinner time. We follow-up his little meals with milk and then he eats milk the rest of the day. Boy does he love real food! He was on rice cereal for a week before we introduced bananas.

In other news, Brady still loves to stand up and jump up and down while he holds onto your fingers. He has also been standing just holding onto the couch or my legs. He loves to look around! He is also trying so hard to crawl...scooting his little legs up under his tummy and pushing forward. He has also been sitting up more when he has something (like a toy - his musical cube is his favorite!) to lean forward on. He places his hands on the toy and can play with it while sitting...very cute! He also LOVES holding onto both of his feet and rolling around on the ground. He just stares at them and laughs. And stories! We've been reading lots of stories lately. He loves to reach out and feel the soft animals in some of his books. He will hang out next to us and try to turn the pages. He really enjoys when we read to him. We can easily go through a dozen books at a time. He's very interested in the pictures etc.

Sleeping 10-11hrs at a stretch isn't his favorite thing to do these days. In fact, it has been a few weeks since he slept that long on a regular basis. It's hit or miss these days. Some nights he'll only sleep for a 7hr stretch before waking up...eating a bit (usually just for 5-10min - he's certainly efficient!) and then crashing for another 4-5hrs. We think it's because he wakes himself up some nights when he crawls into the side of the crib. We'll find him all turned around, out of BOTH swaddle blankets (no idea how he does that) and on the complete other side of the crib - stuck in a corner. He never wakes up crying in the middle of the night...just starts making noise like, "um guys...someone...little help here." But he just loves his swaddle blankets. We've been trying to get him used to sleeping without them by taking one arm out for the past couple of days. He's doing fine with that so maybe we'll have him sleep with both arms out this coming week. Other than for our own convenience, we don't really have a good reason to take him out of the swaddle blankets...other than the fact that he takes himself out of both of them in the middle of the night and then scoots around the crib, causing trouble. He's a riot!
