The BEST part of the Dr's appointment was getting to hear the heartbeat for the FIRST TIME! We never asked any of our u/s technicians to turn on the sound so we had actually never heard Baby Andersen's little heartbeat (although we've seen it 4 times already). Our Doc put the little wand on my stomach and within 2 seconds we heard it...fast and perfect. Since we haven't had an ultrasound for a few weeks, it was a huge relief to know that everything is going well in there. :) It was a very special moment for both of us. Kind of makes up for all the needles today.
I'm feeling great these days. Tons of energy at work (which is good b/c I've been busy) and just so excited to see our little one again. OUR NEXT ULTRASOUND IS NEXT WEDNESDAY!!! Less than a week until we (hopefully) find out what we're having...no more green and yellow outfits! :) Mark has been working on "the nursery" this week. He took all the furniture out of our guest room and is working to install a fan b/c he read that fans may help to reduce the chance of SIDS. We're excited to get to work on the nursery and - now that I'm less than 2 weeks away from starting month 5!! - finally comfortable to start purchasing furniture, painting etc.
Here's a 17 Week update - courtesy of google... "Currently, at 17 weeks pregnant, your baby is approximately 4.5" - 5.5" long, and weighs in at 4-5 ounces. Doesn't seem like much right now does it? Well, your baby is big enough to let you know its there on occasion. Of course, it will be a couple of more weeks before you feel a lot of movement, but right now you may notice a small movement here and there. With a stethoscope you will sure know they're there. You can actively hear that heartbeat pumping back and forth. At 17 weeks pregnant your baby is about the size of the palm of your hand. They are now also beginning to hear sounds as their ears are starting to stand out. This is a time when many women will begin talking to their baby and singing songs even more than they have done before because your baby is recognizing your voice."
