Update (Oct. 23 - 16 Weeks 1 Day)

I'm 16 Weeks and 1 Day along as of today!  I've felt a few little "flutters" over the past few days.  I felt my first flutter (kind of feels like tiny bubbles popping against the inside of your stomach) at 15 weeks 3 days.  It's definitely not gas.  I should know...I'm an expert in that area these days - lol.  I'm still not sure any of this is our little pumpkin.  In fact, I keep telling myself it couldn't be.  It's just too early.  But they do say you may start to feel your little one around week 16.  A couple times this week, I'd stop everything and look down at my stomach thinking..."what was that!?  no.  It couldn't have been...could it?"  I guess we'll see as this little guy/girl gets stronger (or as the flutters start to happen more regularly).  We'll keep you guys posted!

Here's are some of the things going on this week (courtesty of google)...  "Around this time in your pregnancy, you are more likely to feel your baby moving! These movements are called "quickening" -- they feel like butterflies or gas. Quickening usually starts somewhere between week 16 and week 22 of pregnancy.  By the time you are 16 weeks pregnant, your baby is between 4.3 and 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3 ounces. During the sixteenth week of pregnancy, your baby can open its mouth, move its lips, and swallow. Other things that are happening in your baby during week 16 of pregnancy include the following:  (i) Your baby may be sucking his or her thumb; (ii) Facial muscles may lead to various expressions, such as squinting and frowning; (iii) The heart is beating 117 to 157 times per minute; (iv) The stomach is producing digestive juices; (v) The kidneys are producing urine; (vi) For females, millions of eggs are forming in the ovaries.  When you are 16 weeks pregnant, you may begin to feel movement as your baby's bones harden; however, if you are overweight, have a thick uterus, or if this is your first pregnancy, you may not be feeling the baby move yet."

I'm still feeling great these days...with the exception of my constant stuffy nose and exhaustion.  I had to wear my pre-pregnancy work pants unbuttoned today (don't worry - I had a long sweater on over them).  That's the last pair of pre-pregnancy work pants that still fit soooo I guess I'll be doing some shopping this weekend.  My stomach increased in size quite a bit over this past week (notice picture).  Everything is tight!  I'm flying to Park City (Utah) for business in early November and I'm pretty sure I won't even be able to pull my nice suit pants over my knees.  I'm still too small for maternity pants/skirts so I'm not quite sure what to do about that.  Maybe I won't be in a few weeks!  :)

Our next appointment is next Thursday, Oct. 30.  I think it's just a standard checkup.  Kind of boring.  However, our NEXT ULTRASOUND IS ON WEDNESDAY, NOV. 5!!!  That's the big one where we find out the sex of our little one!  We are extremely excited!  I'll be finishing up my 4th month that week.  The 5th month starts in Week 19.  I'm not really sure when that happened.  This whole pregnancy thing has started to go by very fast.  March is not that far away at all!  Baby Andersen's arrival is right around the corner!

Katherine, you are looking so great in you latest picture! Good luck with the shopping...until you can fit into small size pregnancy clothes, I recommend buying a few staple items in one regular size bigger than you normally wear that you can mix and match with clothes you have that still fit. Can't wait to hear your news after November 5th! ~Lisa
