August 2nd: We closed on our NEW house on Monday, 8/2! We're moving in this entire week. Grandpa and Nonna are up here in Boston to help us move into the new place. Brady loves the new house. We had our first dinner (pizza) there last night after I picked him up from school. Then we played in the family room and explored the house (Brady's first time since the open house). He did not want to go! It was very cute. Mommy's starting to feel a bit more tired these days - coming up on 6mo pregnant. Brady's little brother will be here in a few more months! The 2nd pregnancy goes by so fast!He pee-pee'd in his potty (a little) for the first time on Monday, August 9 (before his evening bath). He loves his potty and did not want to get off of it after his bath either. He gets to hold some TP while he goes potty so I think that's part of the appeal...that and getting to do a "big boy" thing.
August 10th: Brady loves his new backyard. He spent 20min with Nonna and Grandpa (they were up the entire week to help with our move) walking to his baby pool, filling up a water bottle carrying it over to his backyard sandbox to dump it out. He also loves playing in the sand and rocks and pointing out planes flying by.
The move went well - pretty exhausting though. We closed on Monday, Aug 2 and spent the next 4 days moving out of our temporary apt in south Boston and the 3 storage facilities we had rented. Nonna and Grandpa flew back to TN on Sunday late afternoon. While they were here, we also took some time to go to the aquarium, dinner at "No Name", swim lessons for Brady (2 weekends in a row), ice cream downtown in Winchester, run misc errands, and enjoy a game night.
Brady is getting to be such a big boy now. Mr. Independent... He uses a fork and spoon on his own for every meal (he insists on doing it all on his own - very proud).
Loves the playground at the Ambrose elementary school down the street. There's no hesitation going down the BIG slide all by himself. We went on Sunday evening before dinner and after Mark's parents left. We walked over with Brady in his wagon and enjoyed the slide and swings.
We love our new neighborhood. Our new neighbors to our right brought us a beautiful "welcome" hibiscus while our other neighbors across the street brought us a platter of homemade cupcakes. What a fantastic neighborhood! We already love it here.
August 22nd: Brady loves mushrooms, spinach, carrots - those are his favorite veggies. He's now a big time milk drinker. He would probably drink a gallon of whole milk each day if we let him. He has a sippy cup full of milk in the morning (usually on the way to school) and another throughout the day...and some right before bed. Water all other times.

We're finally digging out of some of the boxes here. We had a great weekend. We all went to the Winchester Farmer's Market on Saturday (completely surreal small town feel with a band and free easel painting for the kiddos). We ran some errands and ended up buying Brady the rest of his "big boy" furniture (bunk beds with a built-in trundle and a dresser). On Sunday, we saw Grampy in Seabrook (and Alicia) for the day. Brady had so much fun playing with the toys in the "toy drawer" at the beach house. We then came home, I made chicken tetrazinni and Brady gobbled it up - especially the mushrooms. I've never heard of a kid who loves mushrooms. He still goes to bed without any fuss still. We read about 4 books, he has some milk, we say "OK, bed time" and he'll hand us the milk and point to his crib (he's still sleeping in the "baby room"). He goes into his crib, takes his blankie and doggie and snuggles into his pillow. And he's out. No crying. We are so fortunate.
August 24th: Brady loves spinach, mushrooms, salmon and...fish chowder. That's our little New Englander. :)
Here are some miscellaneous blog notes from this month...
- He's still sleeping 12hrs each night with one nap midday for about 1 1/2 to 2hrs.
- Brady LOVES school! On July 1st, Brady's teacher asked him, "Where's the baby?" What did Brady do?... pointed to his belly! The first week of July, Brady officially transitioned from taking his daily nap in a crib to the floor (on his mat). We're preparing for him to fully transition to the toddler program (they sleep on mats). It took some extra stories (and some extra snuggling with doggie and blankie) - but success!
- He's talking non-stop...saying all sorts of stuff these days. It's hard to keep track of the new words. He makes these hilarious lion and elephant noises (the latter was last month, actually). For an elephant, he uses his arms as the trunk and stomps his feet at the same time. Too funny! He also says: cows say "mooo!", lions and dinosaurs say "roar!", bus ("us") - last month, truck ("uck") - last month, grampa - last month, nonna - 14mo, please ("pees"), more, up ("up" or "uppie") , car etc.
- He is obsessed with cars, trucks, buses and airplanes. He loves to point all of them out on the road and always asks for "more" after seeing one (like we control when they drive by - haha).
- Loves to help out… helps daddy do laundry. LOVES to sweep and mop the floors. Loves to use the little broom and the dust pan to sweep up crumbs. Very good at understanding And following multi-step instructions. We'll ask brady to go get his bowl of his table and bring it to the kitchen to place it on the shelf. He will follow through from beginning to end. Loves doing “big boy” stuff.
- Brady definitely knows right from wrong. We always say, “We don’t hit Max. No hitting – hugs!” He sometimes swats max (I don’t really blame him) when Max tries to steal his food out of his hand (or mouth - sigh). We’ll say, “No hitting, Brady. That hurts Max.” He'll then lean down and give Max a big hug. Very sweet.
- Brady walks backward to sit on his potty (pretty funny - has been doing since 12mo).
- He understands a Lot of words – including prepositions. If we tell Brady the ball rolled under the table, he understands it’s Under the table. Same with over, up down etc.
Brady has no problem responding to simple questions. Would you like a banana or an apple? Would you like some water or milk? Does that make you happy? - Brady has officially noticed the difference between genders… recently noting that Daddy and Brady share a similar body part and asking why Mommy doesn’t. hahaha.
- Brady says “please” now on his own – though it usually comes out as “fees” or “peas”.
- Still a fantastic sleeper. About 12hrs each night – no waking – and a 2hr nap during the day (around 12 or 12:30). He sleeps on a mat at school (for nap) and in his crib at night…though we’ll be moving him to a big boy bed in about 3mo or so.
- Brady loves to try to climb into the bathtub, out of the bathtub, out of his crib (though he’s yet to succeed – thankfully).
- He loves to help undress himself.
- This kid can run!
I love starting my morning by listening to brady read books to himself. He loves the "The Wheels on the Bus" book. He went through the pages singing to himself. "Na-na-na-na-na, Da-Da-Da, Da-Da-Da, Da-Da-Da... All tooo da down” (that’s how he says, “all through the town”). He asked me to sing it on our way to school and he would jump in at the end and sing, "All tooo da down" with me. Oh, too cute.
- Brady also loves to dance and sing and clap along to music. I'm happy to have a child that loves music. I can't wait to get my piano up here!
- He loves making gorilla, monkey, lion, dinosaur and elephant sounds (though elephants are his favorite!)
- He said "juice", "choo choo!? pees?" (wanted to watch Thomas the Tank Engine on TV), "Dax", "No" etc. He also likes to call me "Mom" and "Mommy" now in addition to "Mama". I have no idea where the "Mom" came from but it's pretty funny.
- Brady also calls planes "abub-bubs" for some reason. I think it's because he's pointed above to the planes flying in the sky (that's the only time he'll call them that)...but it's really cute. "Abub-bub!!!" he'll scream when he's outside in our backyard.
I really enjoy overhearing Brady reading aloud to himself at night (after I put him to bed). On July 26, I went in to check on him just now and he was sprawled out in bed - surrounded by books. And no, I did not leave books in his crib. He grabbed the off the shelf next to his crib!
