Princeton, NJ! We celebrated Brady's SIX MONTH half birthday on Saturday, Sept. 26 by going to a farm to pick apples. Brady just LOVED licking/gnawing on the apples! Brady and Elliot enjoyed spending time together. There was a lot of rolling around on the ground, sitting/watching (Brady) and wrestling (when they would roll on top of each other). So fun! We drove back on Sunday and stopped at a mall in Connecticut to feed the little man. We also picked up a few cute things for Brady while we were there (his froggy and grampy hats). Early this week, Brady had his FIRST FINGER FOOD (basically soggy sweet potato fries - no seasoning). I cut them into straws and just dumped them on his high chair tray. He wasn't used to feeding himself so it was a bit of a challenge at first. He probably only ate one or two sticks and just mushed the rest into the tray, his hair etc. I'm pretty sure Max had a lot more fun. He sat right next to Brady the entire time and happily gobbled up everything that fell on the ground. Here's are Brady's 6-month highlights...FOOD: So far he's had sweet potato, apples, pears, banana, green beans, carrots, peas, rice cereal and yams. He love everything except the green beans and peas so we mix those with other foods like carrots and apples. He's still drinking a lot of (and getting the majority of his calories from) milk...probably about 30oz a day. When I spoon feed him, he likes to grab the spoon and shove it in his own mouth.
SLEEP
ING: It seems like he has been in a constant growth spurt for the past two months. He goes to bed between 7 and 8pm (whenever he starts to get fussy). I put him to bed FULLY AWAKE and he now lets out about 1 quick cry and then quiets down within 5 seconds. That's right, this little one now puts himself to sleep. Woohoo! The sleep training has definitely paid off. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, he can usually put himself back to sleep BUT not if he's ravenous (sometimes the case if he doesn't get enough milk before bed). He has been falling asleep between 7 and 8pm, waking up around 10pm to get one more night feeding in and then sleeping until 4:30-5am. He sleeps with his "lovey" (his favorite taggie blanket) and will babble to himself for ~30min in the morning before we go pick him up. He loves to ease into the day...just like Mommy!DEVELOPMENT: He has mastered sitting (rarely falls over and the transition from sitting to tummy time is much more graceful now). He rolls all over the place and will roll to me (even if I'm across the room and at an angle!) when I say, "come see Mommy!". It's very cute. He's very good at getting around by rolling in different directions... so good in fact...not sure if this one will crawl! He can get into a crawling position but will only lunge forward to toys (so immediately landing back on his belly). He scoots all over on his belly and loves the slippery hardwood floors because of it. He still loves to stand. He has been able to stand for extended periods of time (just holding onto our fingers) since he was 3 months old. He can now stand for minutes on end - holding onto objects like the couch - no help from us! What a big guy! He babbles all the time and loves to "talk" (making all sorts of vowel sounds). He can now fully sit up in his bouncy seat - even when strapped down. Strong abdominals! He is getting very good about sitting up on his own even from lying down! Yesterday morning, he stood just holding onto the couch (completely unassisted - at least from his parents) for minutes! Perhaps this guy will walk before he crawls!?
I can't believe my baby is six months old!
