Thurs., July 16 (16 Weeks Even)

Brady had his 4-month appointment today! He is now 15lbs 10oz and just shy of 26 inches long! What a big boy! He's still very tall for his age (90th percentile). His weight is right on target (50th percentile) for his height. He had 2 more vaccines (yuck) but did very well and calmed down quickly after the shots. We asked Dr. Mandell about starting solid food. He asked us if Brady (i) has started eating a lot more than usual - YES! and (ii) appears very interested and even tries to grab your food - YES!. He can also sit up assisted - no problem...even unassisted but only for 5-10 seconds max. And neither Mark nor I ever had any food allergies so that's not a concern (especially given I'll continue to nurse). So we'll see. To be honest, I'm kind of sad at the idea of weaning him. My plan is to continue to nurse until he's a year so I'm not concerned with him not getting enough of those good breast milk antibodies since that will continue. But those feedings will eventually decrease once he starts eating a lot of solids. Mark and I know he's ready for solids but it's kind of sad - he's growing up so fast! But we're not going to hold off on solids just because Mommy is feeling a bit sad with the whole thing. This little guy is ready and it is so much fun seeing him grow up. Sooo I guess solids are in his future (likely rice cereal to begin)...

Other than that, we've been a busy family! Mark has been swamped studying for the bar. Brady and I have been enjoying the summer. We tried out the baby pool. It was warm but with a chilly breeze that day so Brady wasn't a huge fan...but he did like playing with this bath/tool toys and splashing his feet in the water! He loooves the water. I'm hoping he takes after Mark (the swimmer) in that department. I loved the water but hated swim lessons when I was a kid.
