Mark and I had our last Dr's appointments today! Our first one was another Non-Stress Test at 2:45pm. Baby A flew through it yet again with his strong heartbeat. I was having lots of contractions throughout the test and his heartbeat remained strong at around 130 beats per minute. As for me, my blood pressure came in at 134/76 during the NST (about 30 points over my baseline average - ack!). We were told that docs usually don't get concerned about preeclampsia unless protein is found in the urine and blood pressure is over 140...but the nurse wasn't sure what our doc would think since my baseline is so low. We then went to have my amniotic fluids checked (they were high last week at 26 - anything over 25 is "high"). The good news is that my fluid levels were perfectly normal today at a 21 - woohoo! All around great news for our last appointment! After the NST, we headed over to Dr Abbott's office and waited around for nearly 2 hours to be seen (ugh - we will Not miss going to the regular checkups!). The nurse checked my blood pressure again and it came out at 121/74 - so nothing to be alarmed about. Also - no protein in my urine. So it looks like we're still all clear for a Wednesday delivery! The nurses were cute today as I was waddling around. Two separate nurses (the NST technician) and one of Abbott's nurses both said I should be in a pregnancy magazine. I think that just may be the best compliment a 9 month pregnant lady could get. :) When we finally sat down in Dr A's office, she answered all our q's about what to do the day of the induction - what to expect etc. She then did an internal exam to see how I'm progressing. The good news is my cervix is now 50% thinned (aka effacement) and I'm dilated - but still only 1cm. The more the cervix thins, the faster I'll start to dilate and my cervix was only thinned a bit at our last appointment 2 weeks ago - so I'll take this as progress and good news. Dr A actually touched Baby A's head and I just thought that was the weirdest thing. ha Sooo all around great news! We also got some GREAT 4D pics of our little man's face - finally! He has such full lips - a perfect bow, chubby cheeks and a cute button nose. The pictures are so clear...I really can't stop looking at him. He had his foot up by his face at one point during the fluid check. Needless to say, he is really running out of space in there! Mark is going to scan the pics in tomorrow and we'll try to post them either tomorrow or over the weekend. You can let us know if you think he has a McDonald nose or an Andersen/Lotito nose. Mark and I are still trying to figure it out. At first glance, I'd say hands down a McDonald nose but now after looking at Mark's baby pics I'm not so sure. :)
Tomorrow (Friday) is my LAST day at work! I start maternity leave (10 weeks) this coming Monday. I'm really glad I changed my mind and decided to take 2 days for myself prior to going in on Wednesday. Although I still feel great (considering I have a >39 week belly on me), I never thought about the fact that those will be the last days I'll have to myself. So I'm going to take those days and try to sleep in, hang out with our pups and mentally prepare to become a Mommy.
