A March baby! That's right. At last week's doctor's appointment, we were told a few bits of good news. The first, everything is looking great. The second, I can actually try for a "natural birth" (i.e. avoid a c-section) but I'll still have to be induced. The reason they induce women with factor V is b/c of two things: (i) the placenta has a tendency to age prematurely and (ii) I can't have any blood thinner in my system during birth. There's something about epidurals causing paralysis if blood thinner is in the system. Yeah. Pleasant. I know. So anyway, our doctor is extremely experienced when it comes to Factor V so she got us pretty comfortable. For starters, we will be induced a few weeks before our due date (so 2nd to last or last week in March) and we will get a weekly ultrasound towards the end of the pregnancy (to ensure the placenta is still healthy). Since we'll be induced and the labor will be planned, I'll be able to get an epidural if needed and won't have to worry about the amount of blood thinner in my system...or that the baby is getting enough food from the placenta. It sounds complicated but we've done a lot of research on all of this stuff and feel completely comfortable that our doctor is doing all of the right things. Sooo a March baby! We're very excited.
As for me, I'm doing well. No more sickness. Still tired etc. Also getting busy at work (3 deals - one is a $500 million transaction!) but I'm managing. Mark is a big help and has been offering many back and foot rubs these days. I'm very lucky to have some a great hubby.
